With 10 teams divided into 2 groups, the top two teams from each group will enter the Playoffs, where the top two franchises, depending on the NRR, will get two chances. The Delhi Capitals have bagged the wooden spoon a record four times, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings twice. Mumbai Indians have finished as the top-ranked team four times, with CSK being the next best with two top spot finishes.

The top four teams will make an entry into the Playoffs based on the number of points they have collected. Usually, 16 points are enough to secure a place in the Top 4 but on occasions, they may not be enough with certain permutations and combinations surrounding the other franchises.

What if there is a tie?

In case of a tie, the Super Over will determine a winner. In case the scores are still levelled at the end of it, another Super Over will be played. This will continue until one team outscores the other.
