Indian Navy said it is gearing up to render all necessary support to the vulnerable areas in coordination with Tamil Nadu and civil administration in anticipation of the impact of this cyclone along the coast of the state.
The preparations include loading vehicles with food, drinking water, medicines and other HADR relief materials as well as positioning Flood Relief Teams (FRTs) for quick response. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin that light to moderate rainfall at a few places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm and lightning very likely over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema on November 27 and 28.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry is expected between November 28 and 30. Heavy rainfall at isolated places over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on December 1 and 2 is also expected.
The IMD also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during November 28 to 30. IMD said heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 30, Rayalaseema during November 28 and 30 and Kerala and Mahe during November 30 to December 2.

In a bulletin at around 3 am on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the deep depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal remained practically stationary over the past six hours at 11:30 pm near latitude 9.0°N and longitude 82.1°E, about 100 km east-northeast of Trincomalee.
“To move nearly north-northwestwards skirting Sri Lanka coast and intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 12 hours,” IMD said.
IMD said it will cross “north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram around morning of November 30 as a deep depression with a wind speed of 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph.”

Cyclone Fengal live updates: The chief minister instructed Disaster Management, PWD, and Municipality officials to take immediate action, in coordination with the IMD, which forecast heavy rains in Puducherry and Karaikal for the next two days.
Officials were directed to move people from low-lying areas to relief camps. A 24-hour control room has been established.
Arrangements were made to provide food packets to those in relief camps.
Two National Disaster Response Force teams from Arakkonam have been deployed for relief operations.

Cyclone Fengal live updates: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday with officials from various departments to assess the situation caused by heavy rainfall in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
