Republic Day 2025 Highlights: Bike stunts, fly-past conclude parade at Kartavya Path

A reception hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday was focused on the culinary and cultural diversity of southern India, with the region's dishes, textiles and art at its centre.

The 'At Home' reception was attended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the chief guest for this year's Republic Day parade, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union ministers, top civil, military and police officers, and diplomats.

The guests were welcomed by a couple each from one of the five southern states -- Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala – in their mother tongues, while wearing the costumes of the region. (PTI)

In a minor hiccup during Republic Day celebrations in Kolkata, chief minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the Kolkata Police band was not allowed to perform in Kolkata's Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Republic Day. However, she intervened after which, the band was allowed to perform, reported ANI.

The High Commission in London marked the 76th Republic Day on Sunday with a customary flag hoisting ceremony followed by the National Anthem. Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami addressed the large diaspora gathering in the courtyard of India House, decked out in vibrant tricolour, to convey key messages from Saturday night’s address to the nation by President Droupadi Murmu.

"Today let us reaffirm our commitment to strive to realise Gandhiji’s dreams, his watch words truth and non-violence will continue to remain relevant for the whole world," conveyed Doraiswami. (PTI)

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, in his Republic Day message, referred to the Delhi Assembly elections and pointed out that attempts have been made at a global level to influence elections through social media and media.

"The key to success for democracy lies in good governance...Democracy is the most important fundamental principle of the Constitution. Constitution gives us the freedom to elect government through our votes and decide who we give the power to. For Delhi, this Republic Day is of special importance. A few days from today, we will elect our new government," LG VK Saxena while extending his Republic Day wishes.

"We will have to remember that we will not only elect a government but we will also choose a system that will impact every aspect of our lives for the next 5 years...For the past few years we have seen that on a global level, attempts have been made to influence elections through social media and media. As a citizen and voter, we should strive to discern between what is right and what is wrong without succumbing to any pressure...," he further said. (ANI)

An enthusiastic Indian diaspora dressed in vibrant traditional dresses on Sunday celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day at the country's missions abroad where the national tri-colour was unfurled with global leaders from Nepal, Australia, Singapore, extending their greetings, highlighting their strong friendship with India. Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy unfurled the national flag at his residence on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day. He also participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at Veerula Sainik Smarak, Parade Grounds, in Hyderabad on this occasion.

Republic Day 2025 Live: Former President, Ram Nath Kovind said, "Happy Republic Day to all the countrymen. Our country is moving towards developed India, it is a happy moment and many such events are happening which demonstrate that we will become a developed India very soon."

Republic Day 2025 Live: Republic Day was celebrated across Kashmir, with events held in all district headquarters of the valley amidst tight security, officials here said.

The main Republic Day function in the valley was held at the Bakshi Stadium here, and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary was the chief guest.

Contingents of police, CRPF, NCC, and schoolchildren braved the early morning chill to take part in the march-past.

After the parade, artists from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir performed at the event.

The Bakshi Stadium was almost full, with an estimated 20,000 people, mostly government employees, attending the event.

Republic Day 2025 Live: In a first, bands from three government schools, including two all-girl teams, performed during the 76th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path, drawing applause from the audience.

The school bands were among 16 teams competing in the Grand Finale of the National School Band Competition which took place at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on January 24-25.

Republic Day 2025 Live: As the chief guest at the ceremony, Subianto witnessed a grand military parade and cultural performances along with President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, members of the Union Cabinet and a host of other dignitaries at Kartavya Path.

A 352-member marching and band contingent from Indonesia also participated in the Republic-Day parade.

Subianto himself had taken great interest in the rehearsals of the Indonesian military contingent in Jakarta before it left for India, it is learnt.

Republic Day 2025 Live: Kerala has a cultural bond throughout the length and breadth of the state similar to that of the nation, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day celebrations.

Arlekar said that our culture doesn't differ, what differs are the shades of the culture.

"Our culture is one. We have that cultural bond throughout the length and breadth of our state as in the case of our country," he said while praising Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who was also present.

Republic Day 2025 Live: The systems displayed included the Rafale, Su-30, Jaguar, C-130, C-295, C-17, AWACS, Dornier-228, and An-32 aircraft, as well as Apache and Mi-17 helicopters.

They displayed a variety of formations, including Dhwaj, Ajay, Satluj, Rakshak, Arjan, Netra, Bheem, Amrit, Vajrang, Trishul, and Vijay. A Rafale fighter aircraft performed the concluding Vertical Charlie manoeuvre.

Republic Day 2025 Live: The ‘Fly-past’ witnessed a breathtaking air show by 40 aircraft/helicopters - 22 fighter jets, 11 transport aircraft and seven helicopters - of IAF.

Republic Day 2025 Live: The Corps of Signals Motorcycle Rider Display Team, famously known as ‘The Dare Devils’, began performing breath-taking stunts during the motorcycle display.

The team is showcasing its bravery and determination through various formations, including Bullet Salute, Tank Top, Double Jimmy, Devils Down, Ladder Salute, Shatrujeet, Shraddhanjali, Mercury Peak, Info Warriors, Lotus, and Human Pyramid.

Republic Day 2025 Live: For the first time, the cultural performance will cover the entire Kartavya Path - from Vijay Chowk to C hexagon - to ensure all guests get the same viewing experience.

This year, 5,000 artists under the title of ‘Jayati Jaya Mamaḧ Bharatam’ will perform over 45 dance forms from different parts of the country in an 11-minute cultural performance.

Republic Day 2025 Live: The Delhi Police marching contingent was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Kumar Singh. The Delhi Police all-women band also participated for the second time, led by Band Master Ruyangunuo Kense.

Republic Day 2025 Live: A 148-member all-women marching contingent of Central Reserve Police Force, led by Assistant Commandant Aishwarya Joy M, marched on the Kartavya Path.

Republic Day 2025 Live: Paramilitary forces from the CRPF, Assam Rifles and the BSF marched following a display by the Indian Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.

Republic Day 2025 Live: On Kartavya Path, a tableau marking the lives and sacrifices of armed forces veterans was displayed.

Adding to the display of honour were the esteemed veterans who have brought glory to India in sports.

Among them were Padma Shri awardees Subedar Murlikant Petkar, whose story inspired the Bollywood film Chandu Champion, and Honorary Captain Jitu Rai.

Arjuna and Khel Ratna awardees Colonel Balbir Singh Kular, Captain (IN) Homi Motivala, Master Chief Petty Officer Tajinder Toor, Master Warrant Officer Ram Mehar Singh, and Wing Commander Gurmeet Sandhu were also present.

Republic Day 2025 Live: The first Army contingent leading the Mounted Column was 61 Cavalry, led by Lt Ahaan Kumar. It was followed by nine Mechanised Columns and nine marching contingents.

The contingents of the Brigade of the Guards, the Jat Regiment, the Garhwal Rifles, the Mahar Regiment, the Jammu & Kashmir Rifles Regiment, and the Corps of Signals, among others, marched on the Kartavya Path.
