Speaking to media, Dr Nitin Dange, the neurosurgeon said, "Saif Ali Khan was admitted in Lilavati hospital at 2 am with alleged history of assault by an unknown person. He sustained major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to lodged knife in the spine. Surgery was performed to remove knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and neck were repaired by plastic surgery team. The entire surgery was monitored by Dr Srinivas Kudva a cardiologist because of his other condition.

He is completely stable now and recovering well and out of danger."

"Saif has six stabs and two are deep. Of this one is close to spine," he said, adding the actor was operated upon by a team of doctors led neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr Leena Jain and anaesthesiologist Dr Nisha Gandhi.

"He sustained six injuries, two are minor, two intermediate and two deep injuries, one of the injuries is on the back which is close to spine. A neurosurgeon was involved in the surgery," Dr Uttamani told PTI. The wrist wound is also deep. It's on the left hand and required a plastic surgeon to repair it, he added.

Saif Ali Khan attacked news LIVE: Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was out of danger, police said on Thursday, following stab injuries received in a scuffle with an intruder at his home in India's financial capital of Mumbai for which he was undergoing surgery.

"He (Khan) is being treated ... and is out of danger," senior police officer Gedam Dixit told Reuters.

The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations.

Two hours before Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Mumbai house during a burglary attempt, Kareena Kapoor shared a photo from her girls' night in with Karisma Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Rhea Kapoor. In the picture, they were seen enjoying some drinks together.

He has officially confirmed to the media persons that actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked around 3am. Actor sustained injuries and he is being treated in hospital. Police are investigating the matter and several police teams formed to trace the accused.

The attacker reportedly fled the scene after the stabbing as more people in the house woke up. The police said they have launched a manhunt to nab the attacker.

The police have started the process of registering a First Information Report and have formed multiple teams to nab the assailant. Officials from the Mumbai Crime Branch, including officer Daya Nayak, were seen arriving at the actor’s home. The Mumbai Police is also investigating the matter. They have detained a few suspects, according to a report by the Indian Express.

Lilavati Hospital sources said that one injury was deep and has received 10 stitches for this stab, but it did not affect his spine. “He was very lucky that the stabs have not affected any vital organs. It appears to have been attacked by knife and he was thwarting off a robbery attempt. Two injuries are deep, two are mid and two are superficial.”

The Mumbai police’s Sniffer dog is brought to the spot where actor Saif Ali Khan lives in Bandra.
