Dillon du Preez

Dillon du Preez

Age 43
Right Handed All Rounder

A right-arm fast bowler and right handed lower order batsman, Dillon Du Preez represents Diamond Eagles in the South African domestic circuit and is part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. He has also represented Leicestershire in the English County.

Dillon’s interest in cricket began after attending a cricket academy managed by former South African cricketers Corrie van Zyl and Rudi Steyn. He made slow and steady progress in his career and came up the ranks representing the South African Under-17 squad and the Free State Youth Academy. He made his debut for Free State (Now Eagles) senior side in the 2003/04 against the West Indies and was forced to bowl for over two days as the tourist amassed more than 600 runs. He bowled well throughout the game; and grabbed his maiden wicket in the form of Shivnarine Chanderpaul. After that he became a constant fixture in the Eagles line-up, Dillon finally received recognition in the 2007/08 season where he picked up 55 wickets and took the Eagles to the domestic title. In the same year he scored his maiden first-class century. He signed up for English county side Leicestershire in 2008 as their Kolpak player. The following year he also signed up with the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2009 edition that was held in South Africa.

Dillon is not an express fast bowler but precise with his line and length, he is also a handy lower middle order batsman more than capable of contributing useful runs.
