Cameron Green

Age 25AustraliaAUSTRALIA
Right Handed All Rounder
Standing at over 6 feet 6 inches, or two meters tall, Cameron Green cuts an imposing and distinctive figure among cricketers as one of the tallest in the game. Add to his immense frame his all-round capabilities and exceptional fielding, and it's easy to see why Green is viewed with such excitement and anticipation within Australian cricket.

Green was a standout in age-group cricket, towering over his peers in more ways than one. His talent was noted early, leading to his First-Class debut for Western Australia at the age of 17, under the leadership of future Australia coach Justin Langer. Green used his bowling to dismantle Tasmania, taking a five-for in the first innings and becoming the youngest player to achieve this feat in the Sheffield Shield.

Although Green was recognised as a quality bowling talent, it was unlikely that his bowling alone would help him break through to the Test team, given the quality of players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. Green focused on developing the other half of his game, a smart move that was also necessary to manage the strain of pace-bowling on his body.

Green’s batting improved in the Shield, with his maiden century coming as he saved a match by batting with the tail for four hours against Queensland at the Gabba. He would go on to score several more centuries, ultimately earning a call-up to the Australian Test setup more as a batter who could contribute with the ball when needed.

Green made his ODI and international debut when India toured in December 2020 and received his baggy green when he was selected for the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match at the Adelaide Oval. His standout performance in that series was an unbeaten 84 in the Sydney Test, which might have resulted in a century if his team hadn’t declared. He also impressed in the field, taking some astonishing and sharp half-chances at gully throughout the series.

Green continued to be a solid performer in the Test arena, taking his maiden five-for against South Africa at the MCG in 2022, before scoring his maiden Test ton in Ahmedabad in 2023. He was part of the WTC final-winning team that year, as well as the squad that lifted the ODI World Cup Trophy in India, adding significant silverware to his career.

He was soon promoted up the order to Steve Smith’s old No.4 position in Tests after Smith moved to the opening role. His promotion proved fruitful as he struck an unbeaten 174 against New Zealand at Basin Reserve in 2024. He aims to make that position his own after establishing himself as a consistent performer in international cricket for Australia.

Green was transformed from a lower-order finisher into a powerplay hitter in T20 cricket and was bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 17.5 crore in the 2023 IPL, where he scored 452 runs at a strike rate of 160, including a blistering century against SRH. MI traded him to Royal Challengers Bengaluru the following season to make space for Hardik Pandya’s return.
